... neither is tatting or sewing. My mother does all things with fiber: sewing, smocking, tatting, crochet, knitting, spinning, bobbin lace, needlework, and probably some weird things that I don't know the names of. I draw, I paint, I photograph, I make paper... so, I'm sure I see something entirely different when I look at her mountains of craft supplies...
So, I'm in the middle of a project of photographing the sorts of things that I don't actually use to make things. Because there's a little bit of art in everything.

I use all kinds of things to make my art...paint, photography, sculpture, etc.etc. I even use all the sewing paraphernalia because I do a lot of fiber sculptures. I too use handmade paper. Love that!

My favorite things are counted thread embroidery and papermaking.
I really like your photo of the embroidery floss labels, by the way. I'm always finding those things in the strangest places around here!

I love needleworking, as I love painting. The thing I love to watch but am very bad at is photography. I am very bad at it :). Fortunately for me, there is photoshop, but it will never replace good photos.
Wow you're lucky to be in a family who do so many crafts! Especially your mum's talents. I knit, learnt off my mum but would be even better if she knew more crafts to teach me!
Great photos! Looking at that photo of embroidery thread reminds me that I have a huge giant tangled version in my craft closet... ugh... too lazy to untangle it...

I love collecting fabric and sewing small items....especially hearts (in dedication to my grandmother).
With tons of inspiration from my grandson I am revisiting sketching,
drawing and watercolors.
